Wanted to let you all know – we are shifting gears and trying out a new modus operandi of posting/blogging on Tuesdays and Thursdays from now on. We will post on the weekend as well if we have something we can’t wait to tell you! Perhaps you will be (hopefully) delighted to see some Botanical Beauties and Beasties favorite artworks and/or creations on the weekends. With a little less blogging we will be making the flip to a stronger commitment to “other social media channels” such as Twitter, FaceBook, Pinterest and Instagram. Below Birdelini are the address for those media sources. Don’t forget that Birdelin has her very own Twitter and Facebook reality!
Do you have a creative soul? Do you like being in on the “new?” Does the idea of a virtual pinboard appeal to you? Check out Pinterest! It is the hottest new social network since sliced bread! I read the other day – Pinterest, the new twitter!
What is it? Direct from their site….“Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.”
This is the second time we are “chatting” about Pinterest…. I wanted to remind you how fun it is. I also wanted to share some of what I found very interesting info I have recently found….
Yesterday on Mashable, an Internet news blog w/ a reported 7+ million monthly page views, (website) this article was posted.
“Pinterest has emerged as the runaway social media hit of early 2012. You probably knew that already. But did you know the company just has 12 people? Or that 97% of Pinterest’s Facebook fans are women?
Lemon.ly, a visual marketing firm, took a deep dive into the data to catalog Pinterest’s stunning rise and produced the infographic below. What’s clear is that with 10 million users, Pinterest has already made its mark in terms of web design influence, if nothing else.
… Since the company appears to be the hottest thing going — at least at this writing — consider this a snapshot of the next social media giant or the answer to tomorrow’s trivia question. ” —The below image is from the same Feb 14 Mashable post/article. look at those STATS!!!!!
Since Gordy is the Artist and Art Journalist he wants to tell you all about our latest greatest “AMUSEMENT”… It is our Pinterest site (http://pinterest.com/botanicalbb/ ) We are just beginning but we are hooked! It is fun. It is helpful. It is interesting. It is a great way to find amazing new ideas. It is a great agent for sharing.
What is Pinterest you say? Well, according to the source itself of Pinterest: “Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests….People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes. (We use to for { i.e. we “pin” } Design ideas, finding all sorts of great new ideas, things we want to “save” and to be able to find easily, & things we want to share!) A pin is an image added to Pinterest. A pin can be added from a website using the Pin It button, or you can upload images from your computer. Each pin added using the Pin It button links back to the site it came from….You can Add the PIN-IT button to your BookMark Bar…Once installed in your browser, the “Pin It” button lets you grab an image from any website and add it to one of your pinboards. When you pin from a website, the Pinterest team automatically grab the source link so we can credit the original creator.”
Pinterest says its MISSION is : “Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.” http://pinterest.com/about/

“Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest, and other popular services like Instagram, Foursquare, Tumblr and Quora, are what former Pinterest designer Sahil Lavingia calls “self-expression engines.” Pinterest lets users express their creativity by providing an easy way to visually bookmark items they come across online.” -TechCrunch
